Jason Thompson
Jason M. Thompson, PhD, is the Local Recovery Coordinator for the San Francisco VA and Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychiatry at UCSF. He is a licensed clinical psychologist with a background in community mental health, neuroscience, and trauma psychotherapy. In 2022 he completed training in MDMA-assisted psychotherapy for Veterans with PTSD at the Bronx VA, and in 2023 he trained in ketamine-assisted psychotherapy (KAP) at the Polaris Insight Center. He currently provides KAP at the San Francisco VA. Thompson is a longtime yoga and Zen practitioner, and in 2020 he received lay ordination at San Francisco Zen Center. Thompson has published multiple articles and book chapters on mindfulness-based intervention and integrative medicine, and he is the author of “Running is a Kind of Dreaming”, a literary memoir about trauma recovery published in 2021 by HarperCollins.
