Nico Gusac

Nico Gusac is Chacruna’s Development and Operations Intern. She is a multilingual professional with experience in project management, event planning and logistics in the humanitarian relief sector. Nico earned her BA from Bard College, NY, where she critically examined the adverse effects of globalization on public health in the Global South. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Medical Anthropology and Global Health at Universitat Rovira i Virgili and is working towards becoming a psychedelic-informed psychotherapist. Passionate about the potential of plant medicine for mental health and as ontological design tools for decolonizing consciousness, Nico advocates for a perspective that extends beyond the medicalized approach, emphasizing the importance of structural change alongside individual counseling. Her practice reflects a holistic understanding of healing, recognizing that wellbeing is influenced by political, cultural, and environmental factors.
